“Song for Von Guerard” was an installation and performance series produced as part of “The National: New Australian Art”, a major exhibition of contemporary Australian art showcasing new work being made across the country. The project was composed of 9 endurance performances each 6 hours in duration (conducted over 12 weeks). Audiences would enter a dark chamber inhabited by the time-travelling landscape critic “Schleimgurgeln” who would illuminate the space with matchsticks that ignited when struck across the wall of the installation.
Thank you to the installation crew and staff from Carriageworks. Daniel Mudie Cunningham and Aarna Hanley.
